About Me
I’m passionate about all things fermentation.
I am a Research Associate at Mascoma, a Lallemand company, where I work on strain development.
I’m a member of the New England chapter of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas and serve on the Podcast Working Group, helping to produce the Master Brewers Podcast.
In 2025, I graduated from Appalachian State University, earning a B.S. in Fermentation Science with minors in Biology and Chemistry. Working under Dr. Folarin Oguntoyinbo, I contributed to research focused on bioprospecting for Appalachian yeast strains that have brewing potential. In addition, I worked with Dr. Clare Scott Chialvo on a comparative genomics project investigating toxin resistance in Drosophila species.
Previously, I’ve worked as:
- a quality lab intern at Sycamore Brewing in Charlotte, NC
- a lab assistant in the Fermentation Science Service Lab at App State
- a brewer at Eastern Divide Brewing Company in Blacksburg, VA
In addition to my degree from Appalachian State, I hold a B.A. in English with a focus in Professional and Technical Writing from Virginia Tech.
